Phonics
We use the Jolly Phonics scheme with our youngest children which is a fun and child centred approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. With actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children and teachers, who can see the children make good progress through to the end of Reception class.
As the children move into Year 1 we focus on the Letters and Sounds scheme which further develops the children's phonic knowledge and application. This approach continues through Key Stage 1.
We hold and information evening shortly after the children start with us in Reception to take them through the phonics and other early skills we teach, so don't worry Parents/Carers! If you have any questions or queries please get in touch!
