St Joseph's Catholic Primary School

Love, learn and live in Christ!

Hello Parents, Carers and Children! We are in the last half term of the school year. It has been a very challenging time for us all recently and I know I do not need to tell you how myself and the staff long for the day we can all be together and school life returns to normal. Remember to just do what you can when you can. You are doing a brilliant job! As always you can email your child's teacher or myself with any concerns you have. We want to do all we can to support you. We are here for you. The message from the Government is still to keep social distancing measures in place, regular hand washing and vigilance. Stay safe and stay strong! Mrs Hodges

Phonics

We use the Jolly Phonics scheme which is a fun and child centred approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. With actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children and teachers, who can see their students achieve. The letter sounds are split into seven groups.

We have a meeting shortly after your child starts with us in Reception to take you through the phonics and other early skills we teach so don't worry - but if you have any questions or queries please get in touch!

Here are some videos which might help you to support your child at home.
