Head Boy and Head Girl
We were very pleased with the applications received from so many of Year 6 children who were keen to apply for the position of Head Boy and Head Girl. The applicants were shortlisted and the final 8 gave a presentation to the Key Stage who then voted for the candidate they felt should be Head Boy and Head Girl. Well done to all our children who applied!
Head Boy: Daniel Head Girl: Eve
We know they will do a great job!
Junior Leadership Team (JLT)
Mrs Bonner our Deputy Head runs the Junior Leadership Team (JLT). The children write letters of application explaining why they feel they would be an effective member of the JLT. Applications are then shortlisted and interviews take place.
Only 2 from Year 4,5 and 6 can be chosen to join our Head Boy and Head Girl who will lead the team.
The JLT are representatives for their own classes as well as representatives for Reception and Key Stage 1.
Our JLT for 2016-2017 are:
Year 6 Year 5 Year 4
Daniel Finlay Poppy
Eve Gretel Fintan
They work as a team to gather the views and opinions of the children across school - including their own, carry out surveys and work with Mrs Bonner to put forward these ideas for school development and improvement.
We have a suggestion box in school which the children in Key Stage 2 use regularly and the JLT evaluate these suggestions and feed back to both the staff and the children.
Previously, the JLT worked on the Food for Life initiative, liaising with our school cook Mrs Purvis and the installation of the KS1 Trim Trail canvassing the ideas of children, staff and PTSC. What a great job!
Supporting Catholic Care!
Our JLT have also worked closely with Eileen, our Catholic Care Worker, to collect gifts for boys and girls across our Diocese of Leeds who are in need.
As usual, the generosity of our families knows no bounds and the gifts always come pouring in!
Eileen, along with the Chair and Vice Chair of the JLT, took last year's gifts to Catholic Care's Centre in Leeds making Christmas more special for those in need - knowing that someone is thinking about them and cares for them.
